Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] charlidos, this model's site has credits for JC's video *and* a Making the Video for it. This is the first thing that has made me optimistic about JC's promo in forever, since the beginning of August, in fact. One of the things that has had me so worried about support for the album has been the fact that the it doesn't seem to be hitting the basics; there's certain things that any album from a high profile pop performer can expect to have, and one of them is a Making the Video for the first single.

However it's also got me confused. Because MTV is generally pretty insistent that when they are doing a Making the Video, that it be a real premiere. I'm sure there must be some exceptions, but I can't think of any offhand. So why the First Look on AOL? Is AOL equally insistent? If not, then maybe the reference to 11/4 on MTV's site for a "Some Girls" special was supposed to be the Making the Video, and it got delayed, and thus the delay and then yanking of the First Look.

Of course, I'd feel even more optimistic if we got an actual date for the debut, but good news!

I thought the First Look got cancelled. The website now says the video will debut on MTV.

I'm so confused. Maybe JC will clarify things on Tuesday. I hope so.

Part of me really wonders if it's just a case of the video itself not being FINISHED yet for some reason. So it had to get yanked from one place and somewhere in the meantime another place said they wanted to air it. But yes, clearing up on Tuesday would be very nice, either way. :)

Yeah, it got cancelled, but a Making the Video obviously had to have been done at the time of the video, so the speculation that people were doing that the good countdown placings had gotten MTV interested in doing a premiere no longer work. And I have real trouble seeing MTV spending the money to film it and then not showing it, so the idea that that it was filmed, MTV then decided to not show the video, it was sent to AOL First Look and then MTV changed their minds seems a little baroque. Argh! Why can nothing about this album be simple?

Yeah, but they can't have done a Making the Video retroactively! So MTV had to have planned to premiere the video all along.

Ah, I see what you're saying. Good point. Well... who knows. I guess all we can do is wait and see. And hope the Anaheim show doesn't stay alone on that Ticketmaster page for long.

Well, I'm still pessimistic about the whole thing. *sigh*
But we can hope, right? :)

I can't disagree, but this is the first good news in forever. Even the various Christmas shows, he's doing the second and third string ones, Atlanta and Denver, not LA and NYC (at least so far.) So I'm going to cuddle it to me and enjoy it. At least until Jive fucks it up again.

JC said on Tuesday the 11th that he had just finished editting the video on Monday the 10th. Obviously there was no way to premiere on AOL on the 7th. He also said that the single and the video would be dropping some time next week, world wide.
