namechanged2protectjob, who is the other person whose inside information I trust on the JJB, says:

BMG U.S. has changed release date for JC to TBD
Just updated today from October 28th to TBD on BMG U.S. B2B site.

and on the same thread, someone comments:

I don't know namechanged, I've never worked for a BMG label, but in my experience at all other labels, TBD is not a good thing, and never "better" than an actual date, even if that date is far off. TBD has always been used as a "placeholder", or an acknowledgement that yes, this record exists, but we're not actively working on it until further notice. It's always been one step above taking something off the production schedule altogether. Before a label I worked for shut down completely, everything on the schedule went on TBD (and subsequently, many were dropped once the merger went through).

Again, I'm not saying this is the case here, and no I have zero insight into what Jive's doing -- I have seen things come off TBD once some large issue was resolved -- but I don't think it's a positive. Remains to be seen.

Which unfortunately all seems to fit in with majafigga's information about an album this year becoming doubtful. I already rather believed her, not just because of her previous accurate record, but because of the way JC's promo went to near-zero after the showcase. He hadn't had huge amounts before that, but there was a decent amount, and generally in first-string (Rolling Stone, MTV) or second-string (J14, cereal boxes -- not a very elegant promotion, but one that involves a fair amount of preplanning and effort) venues. Since the showcase, two kiddy shows, a third string reality program, and a minor awards show, and that's it. While an VMA performance was unlikely once they yanked the single, you can't tell me that Jive couldn't have gotten him a presenter slot if they wanted, and normally that would be where any performer with an album due out soon would expect to be, with their peers, walking the red carpet and talking about their music. Instead he was eating hot dogs for Nickelodeon.

It seems especially unpromising to have it changed to TBD on the eve of the supposed meeting. You'd expect that if they thought there was any chance they'd settle on an album plan tomorrow, they would have left it at Oct 28th and waited for the new information.

I really hope I'm wrong, I really hope we get a single and a new album date and lots of promo, but right now the whole project has the smell of death.
