onlyartist
Aug. 3rd, 2003 09:24 amInteresting things going on at Onlyartist; the DNS now points to newartist.com. Which appears to be Fred Khalilian's new project, some sort of talent search agency. Both the website and the corporation are registered to him. It's not actually an AJ Gill site, despite first appearances; they are just linking to a Hard Rock promotion.
For a while yesterday only www.onlyartist.com was pointing there, while the bare onlyartist.com still went to JC's site. Which allowed the possibility that it was merely Fred fucking up virtual hosting. But now both go to newartist.com.
Possibilities: JC has decided that he's never doing anything with Onlyartist and in a fit of generosity has allowed Fred to use it to promo his own site. I find this pretty unlikely; if it's true, I just wince, given the man's history of fraud. I suspect it's a 'talent search' in the Lou Pearlman vein.
More likely, I suspect that Fred K has used his control over the website address to forward it. Rather foolishly, Onlyartist allowed him to register it in his own name. Never, never let someone else register for you, whether it's your ISP or anyone else, whether it's a big commercial site or your tiny personal site. If they register it, they own it, and if they choose to assert that right, wrenching it away will be expensive.
I do suspect that in any legal challenge, Onlyartist would win out, but it's not a sure thing.
